Some updates on the HERO
- Memorandum of Understanding to be drafted and shown this week to respective agencies. This will be signed during the PCP by Sec Lapus during the opening ceremonies and by Sec Alabastro/ Sec Duque witnessed by PGMA on May 10. It will also be shown to Sec Remonde for GMA's information
- Modules being finalized by team of Dr. Peter San Diego and Dr. Denky dela Rosa
- PCP must coordinate with membership during the Chapter presidents' workshop on the HERO implementation which has been simplified into the following components; also, DepEd and DOH representatives should brief the concerned Secs/ ASecs/ USecs.
Phase I - immediate implementation (by July) consists of
* Matching PCP chapters to schools in need, chapter presidents to concur
* Chapter presidents to coordinate projects with chapters of Phil. Pediatric society and PAFP/ PMA
* HERO "Event" will consist of (using Bicol model)
1. Free clinic for students (regular check-up)- medical, dental, ophtha (PPS, PMA, PDA, PAO) + free clinic for teachers (PCP)
2. Doctors of PCP to teach the teachers onsite on the priority module : diarrhea, dengue and RTI
3. Doctors to leave with school/ teachers a HERO kit which consists of a manual for teaching and references - CD, printouts of modules, possibly flipcharts
Phase II - (throughout SY 2007-2008) ongoing HERO "Events", doctors to follow-up if teachers have cascaded. Will occur at least quarterly in the same schools
Phase III - (beginning Q3 2007) curriculum Technical Working Group to be convened to look into curriculum for each grade level; possibly for implementation in SY 2008-2009; also, working group PCP/PAFP to meet with Deans and CHED to look into current medical school curriculum
