Health Crisis Preparedness and Management

Dear PCP Members :

Seasons Greetings! The Philippine College of Physicians (PCP) initiated by the Health Crisis Preparedness and Management Committee is drafting this letter to put forward an appeal towards all our fellow society members.  The Philippines, once again was struck by a notable Tropical Storm Washi, known locally as “Sendong.”  The death toll has risen to 957 people, with an additional 49 missing, 1,582  injured according to  the latest  update of the National Disaster Risk reduction Management Council, as of 6am of 20 December 2011. According to reports, Northern Mindanao specifically Cagayan de Oro and Iligan are the worst affected cities.  The total number of population affected is 338,415 persons across the six regions in Mindanao and Visayas, reports the Government but these figures are expected to increase.  A number of our members were affected by this devastation as well.   There are many who have nothing left, neither family, nor properties, left for them to live.

We write to you in behalf of the victims particularly that of the Northern Mindanao Chapter.  We seek any kind of help from financial to food, old clothes to medicines that you can give to help them recover from this destruction. They need the help of their fellowmen who are in a better position. We assure you that your help will be forwarded to the Chapter affected. Your support will go a long way in helping rehabilitate their lives.

For dry goods, you may send it directly to PCP National Office on Mondays to Fridays (except on December 30, 2011 which is a holiday) at Unit 2201-2203 22nd Floor, One San Miguel Avenue Building, San Miguel Ave. cor. Shaw Blvd, Ortigas Center, Pasig City.

For monetary donations, you may send it directly to the PCP Northern Mindanao Chapter with bank account at BDO; account name : Philippine College of Physicians Northern Mindanao; account number : 2840008188.  Please fax (088-8525110) or email ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Thank you very much for your support.

Why should I upgrade to Internet Explorer 7? Microsoft has redesigned Internet Explorer from the ground up, with better security, new capabilities, and a whole new interface. Many changes resulted from the feedback of millions of users who tested prerelease versions of the new browser. The most compelling reason to upgrade is the improved security. The Internet of today is not the Internet of five years ago. There are dangers that simply didn't exist back in 2001, when Internet Explorer 6 was released to the world. Internet Explorer 7 makes surfing the web fundamentally safer by offering greater protection against viruses, spyware, and other online risks.
